New 16M Powered Catamaran design is currently under construction at Seacat Ships in Asia. She is being built on spec’ and is available for immediate sale. This design is based on the proven Calypso X1 design which has been a great coastal dive boat operating out to the Great Barrier Reef daily and goes great at medium and high speeds.
The lower level is fitted with comfortable fabricated aluminium seating and sunbrella fabric cushions with tables for 40 persons suitable for dinning and also fitted is island seating on the aft deck for another 10 persons giving a total of 50 passenger seating on the lower deck all under cover. This deck also includes a large servery / bar and a toilet / shower. The lower deck is open to allow good ventilation and has role down clear covers in case of bad weather. The upper deck has the same fabricated aluminium seat / table arrangement as the lower deck to suit 20 passengers with full walk-around access for whale watching or event viewing. For coastal services she can carry up to 50 passengers and sheltered waters up to 70 passengers.
The new model is now at an advance stage as an open flybridge version with various possible commercial vessel operations such as, Coastal Dive Boat, Whale Watcher, Ferry or Tour Boat.
Currently the vessel is being built to accommodate twin 350HP or quad 250HP 4 stroke outboard engines however she has also been designed to accommodate inboard diesel engines, options including twin Volvo D6 380 or twin Cummins QSL8.3 and QSL 9 Diesel engines with conventional propeller shaft. The original vessel (Calypso X1) has the Volvo IPS 330 drives 330HP and performance results were good with a top speed of around 26 – 27 knots and excellent manoeuvrability.
The aft’ deck also features a suspended dive / viewing platform with fold down stairwell which gives access to the water for snorkelling or scuba diving or to the beach for boarding or disembarking.
